Ones To Watch: The Burning Of Rome

The Burning of Rome are the product of a long period of convalescence when lead Adam Traub recovered from 7 operations to help a rare muscular disorder in his legs, where he played piano and guitar to pass the time, he explains;

“As a songwriter music is a therapeutic way for me to cope with the world around me. Ever since I was a child I felt like an alien visiting Earth and had (and still have) difficulty understanding what makes people normal. I opted to rebel against the norm through music; it was the only thing that made sense to me.”

The Burning of Rome are exactly what Arcade Fire would have sounded like if they’d come from California and been joined by a reincarnated Marc Bolan from T-Rex. Probably. Expect a lively blend of punk sensibility, electric guitar and electronica.

Check out their crazy vid for ‘Cowboys & Cut Cigars’, remixed by 80s punk legends Butthole Surfers, after the jump!

Europe is buzzing about ‘Never Played The Bass’, the infectious horn-laden song from Danish singer and songwriter Nabiha.  Having gone gold, as well as giving her a 5th consecutive top 10 airplay hit in her native Denmark, the track is set to introduce Nabiha and her fresh sound to the UK when it’s released in October.

The track uses the iconic line ‘the music don’t feel like it did, when I felt it with you’ from Womack & Womack’s smash hit ‘Teardrops’.  Nabiha co-wrote the track which recently shot to #2 on the UK Urban Chart and #3 on the UK Club Chart with remixes courtesy of Wideboys (Nelly Furtado, Labrinth), Starship and more.
